Add the bot
You need the Manage Server permission on the server you add ni han bao to.
What to do
- Open the invite link. It is the Add to Discord button on the home page too.
- Pick your server and press Continue.
- Leave the permissions ticked and press Authorise.
The permissions it asks for
- View Channels: to see the channels it counts in.
- Send Messages: for the welcome message, the weekly report and the replies that everyone sees.
- Embed Links: the report cards are embeds.
- Attach Files: the monthly recap is an image.
- Read Message History: to count the messages sent before it joined.
The bot never reads what anyone writes. It stores counts, times, ids and names only.
What you should see
The bot appears in the member list and posts a welcome message, in the server's system channel or else the first channel it can post in:
ni han baoAPP
Hi, I'm ni han bao! I count messages, reactions and voice time in this server: counts and timestamps only, never what anyone writes.
See the stats (members only, log in with Discord): https://ni-han-bao.example/s/900000000000000001/leaderboard
Rather not appear in the lists and charts? Use /hide-me, and /show-me to come back.
Type / in a channel: ni han bao's commands are in the list.
It then counts the server's past messages in the background. The pages fill up over the next minutes to hours, depending on how big the server is.
If you don't
- Your server is not in the list on Discord's dialog: you need Manage Server there. Ask an admin to add the bot.
- No welcome message: the bot could not post in any channel. Give it Send Messages in one, and it will answer commands. The welcome is sent only once.
- No commands when you type
/: restart Discord (Ctrl+R on desktop). New commands can take a moment to show up.
Next: set it up.
